Ronan Perrett

NYJC Summer schools 2010 & 2011. Regional workshops in Cornwall, 2010

Ronan’s band Twospeak won concerts at Nica and Ural Terra Jazz Festivals at the Jazz Juniors competition in Krakow last October.

He was the recipient of the Transmission Fund from Help Musicians to study with John Hollenbeck and received an Arts Council England grant to tour with Twospeak in 2019.

Originally from a small town in Cornwall, UK, Ronan is a London based saxophonist, composer, bandleader and sideman.

In 2010 and 2011 he was selected to take part in the National Youth Jazz Collective, and Helen Mayhew (Jazz FM) wrote in Jazzwise ‘Some truly outstanding young musicians including Ronan Perrett… just watch this lot take off and fly in years to come’. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a first in 2015.

In 2019 he toured the UK with support from Arts Council England to promote his first release with his project Twospeak. Their second album, Reflector, was launched with an online performance in February 2021 to critical acclaim. In October 2021 they performed at Jazz Juniors festival in Krakow, Poland, and were awarded concerts at Ural Terra Jazz Festival in Russia and Nica Jazz Festival in Spain.

Ronan’s new trio album, Who Owns the Sky?, featuring drummer James Maddrenand bassist Ferg Ireland, is due for release on Fresh Sound May 2022.

As a sideman Ronan has played at the Royal Albert Hall, the London Stadium and the Jazz Cafe and has performed worldwide in India, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Germany and France. He is a busy sideman in bands such as Join the Din, OK Aurora, Adam Teixeira’s Group Field and many other projects.

In 2019 He was awarded the Help Musicians Transmission Fund for mentoring in composition and improvisation with renowned musicians John Hollenbeck and Chris Speed.

I enjoyed meeting and playing with so many of amazing musicians my age for the first time and spending time learning with top level teachers.
