We know how difficult it can be for aspiring jazz musicians to access support in their local area. Many students in the past have had to rely on their parents to travel long distances to attend weekend classes at junior conservatoires unless they have been lucky enough to find a local jazz teacher. We also hear from music services and teachers that they would like to be able to integrate improvisation and small group composition into their regular teaching.
Since we first launched our Summer School 2007 we have run a series of regional workshops across the country for students from beginner to advanced. We also lead professional development sessions for staff both at the regional sessions and at schools.
