Since the very start of the pandemic, Wednesday at 6pm has become the time where NYJC hosts livestreamed conversations between multi-award winning Artistic Director, Issie Barratt and leading artists from across the scene to discuss their latest projects and share top tips for young musicians and their music leaders wanting to hone their skills and reach their true potential.

Learn about how you can study jazz at the weekly Saturday jazz programmes at the conservatoire’s junior jazz departments or NYJC’s vice president’s very own Julian Joseph Academy or the Purcell, Chethams & Wells Schools of Music. Hear about NYJC’s involvement @ this May’s Ribble Valley Jazz Festival or the roster of NYJC alumni and tutors now being championed by the incredible new label that’s already taking the scene by storm & meet two more of NYJC’s multi award winning summer school 2021 tutors, Jim Hart and Omar Puente

Sunday 2 May at 5.45pm – Ribble Valley International Jazz & Blues Festival – Issie Barratt, Jas Kayser & Rosie Turton present “New Standards”.

Wednesday 5 May – Studying Jazz at a Conservatoire Saturday Junior Jazz Programmes.

Wednesday 12 May – Ubuntu Music’s Founding Director Martin Hummel (roster includes NYJC’s Alex Hitchcock, Alexandra Ridout, Ralph Wyld, Sam Healey, Will Barry, Will Glaser, Andrew Bain, Tori Freestone, Gareth Lockrane, Tom Cawley, Liam Noble, Martin Speake and Jason Yarde).

Wednesday 19 MayJulian Joseph Jazz Academy – JJA is a weekly Academy under the artistic direction of internationally renowned jazz pianist and composer Julian Joseph. Applications are taken all year round from young people aged 11-24.

Wednesday 26 May – Omar Puente – Cuban born jazz violinist – He has been called “a classical violinist with a heart that beats with a Cuban rhythm, a soul that is African, and a home in West Yorkshire”.

Wednesday 9 June – Jim Hart – NYJC Summer School 2021 Tutor/Vibes player.
