Create Your Tune

A key strand in the “Salute To Humphrey Lyttelton Tour” that took place from the 18th November to the 5th December is “Create Your Tune”. The National Youth Jazz Collective (NYJC) in partnership with the “Salute To Humphrey Lyttelton“ band are launching the scheme. This scheme is for people of any age to create a tune and record it by singing  it,  whistling  it or play it on a musical instrument on their mobile phones. Entry is regardless of age, educationally level or qualification. In the interests of fairness no one will be excluded from entering and if entrants flag up in a tick box their status then that allows the organisers to collate the entries and reflect entries from someone with no experience to professional or good amateur. Subject to funding the selected entries will be arranged and recorded by the  “Salute To Humphrey Lyttelton” band..

Conditions of Entry

1 Entries are free and can only be made online.  Entering online is very easy, and it only takes minutes. You have to complete a simple questionnaire about yourself and then attach your music as a soundfile (MP3).

3 All entries submitted must be original songs and shall not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties. Songs may have multiple co-writers, but only one name should be designated as the Entrant on the entry form. Entrant shall, by entering, indemnify and hold the organisers of “Create Your Tune”   harmless from and against any claims inconsistent with the foregoing.

4 “Create Your Tune” is open to all whether they are a first time ‘Have a go’, amateur or  professional composers or musicians and anyone regardless of age. If an entrant is under 18? 16? years old, the signature of a parent or guardian is required.

5 Entrant may submit one song.  It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the submitted music is complete and playable. The organisers do not give feedback or a critique to entrants.

6 Entries will be screened by a listening committee made up of members of the Salute To Humphrey Lyttelton Band with the addition of music industry professionals and who will select the finalists.. The entrant agrees to accept the final decision of  the listening committee and its judges.

7 The organisers will announce the selected entrants in before May, 2022 or as soon as the judges have completed the judging process. The Organisers will post will post all results on its website and will notify entrants by email that results are posted.

8 The entrant is responsible for providing up-to-date and correct email addresses and complete the application form online. The organisers are not responsible for entrant’s non-receipt of any emails for any reason, including but not limited to, server or email malfunctions, including email deliverability. Entrants should check their junk mailboxes if they do not receive the results.

9 The organisers will use its best efforts to announce the finalists at the designated time, but will not be held liable for any unforeseen delays. Finalists will be notified by email or phone. The finalist may be required to sign an affidavit confirming that winner’s song is original and he/she holds rights to the song. Failure to sign and return the form within the required time period or provision of false information may result in disqualification and an alternate fianlist may be selected. Affidavits are subject to verification by the organisers. Entry constitutes permission to use winner’s name, likeness, and voice for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation..

10 Entrant retains all ownership rights to the  submitted tune . The organsers will not have any ownership rights to any tune submitted.

11 The organisers retain the right to arrange and record the tunes for three years from the date of the announcement of the finalists.

12 Entrant acknowledges that all tunes entered may be distributed to the selection committee and the judges who will be selecting the finalists, and the entrant agrees to release, indemnify, and hold the organisers, its selection committee, and judges harmless for liability, damages, or claims for injury or loss to any person or property relating to, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, participation in “Create Your Tune”..

13 By entering “Create Your Tune”, the entrant and/or their parents or legal guardian (if such entrant is a minor) agree to accept and be bound by the decisions of the organisers the selection committee and its judges which are final and binding in all matters.

14 By entering “Create Your Tune”, the entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these rules and regulations as established herein.
