Summer School 2020

NYJC’s Summer School is for England’s highly talented 14-18 year old musicians. We welcome players of all styles and traditions who want to extend their improvisation and interactive skills.  We aim to build confidence through playing great tunes, receiving professional guidance and performing a broad range of jazz music .

Repton Music School

Our Summer School will return to the East Midlands in 2020 – to Repton School in South Derbyshire near the River Trent.

Repton is a co-educational Independent School founded in 1557 offering spectacular and historic surroundings with 21st century facilities. Repton has a dedicated and very well-equipped Music School. There are outstanding performance spaces on site including the the 315 capacity ‘400 Hall’ built to commemorate the school’s 400th anniversary and the Beldam Hall in the Music School for audiences up to 120.

The village of Repton is close to both Burton-upon-Trent and Derby.

Please note the timing of the course:

In 2020 the Summer School will take place later in August – and Short Course will overlap with it

The Beldam Hall, Repton Music School

The Music School has a lovely smaller music theatre, The Beldam Hall, as well as practice rooms ideal for the one-to-one lessons that take place during our weeks.

So – all in all a great place for history and now for the future of jazz!

Auditions for the Summer Schools will run from March 21st to April 17th 2020 in 10 cities around England.
